What is a warrior’s humility? For Don Juan the universe is full of unfathomable mystery. The warrior’s commitment is to unravel that mystery as best he can knowing that he will never be able to completely do so. In making such a commitment, the warrior sets himself up not as less than nor greater than everything around, but rather equal to everything for everything is ultimately unfathomable mystery. Humility is equality.
The foundation of a humble life is silence. As warriors not of conquest or conflict but rather awareness, freedom and knowledge we practice the same principles that any warrior does. We discipline our beings. We eliminate that which is unnecessary. We wait for the perfect moment. We know that a second can change the direction of history. We gather energy and personal power. But none of these disciplines is as great as the practice of silence. For the first and foremost intense battle is within and before anything can or will occur in the universe at large.
The Road Man
Humans have become obsessed with objects. For good reason, their ancestors migrated suddenly away from this plane of existence. Thus leaving those that were behind distressed beyond their imaginings. Those humans had become so good at shifting to other worlds that this world was no longer necessary to stabilize their perceptions. Thus those left behind began to create objects and items to fixate the assemblage points here.
At first these focal points allowed the trained eye to see beyond and within. This benefited their abilities to maintain connection through dreaming to what their forefathers had taught and learned. These channels also maintained connections to history and to each other across vast distances. One could think of it as a spiritual/mental Internet. But with time, and continued power struggles from the predator, the object became more important than the energy it held.
Dreaming took on a morbid obsession with creating. What we saw within the dream, we demanded to create in reality. Great cities and structures to say nothing of alters and focal points were created. We elevated the past stories to the level of gods. Where the ancients understood the mystery and the unknown without words honoring the mother as the creator of life, these twisted seers became obsessed with technologies of spirit and specific manifestations of the unknown, not the unknown.
The Assemblage Point
Warning: this post will most likely anger, annoy and bug the snot out of people who proclaim to walk a path with heart, a warrior’s path, if they have not shifted their assemblage points beyond the human band of awareness towards silence and seeing.
Everything, yes, everything is perception. This is because it is funneled through the assemblage point, which organizes the knowable world into the known. For the seer, we see the assemblage point as a bright band of luminescent fibers, which sits on an infinite sea of fibers within what is known as the shell of our being. These fibers vibrate and glow. Throughout life as we become more aware of our perceptions and aspects of the universe we clamp down on this vibrating force. This stabilizes the assemblage point and our conscious awareness of the world we think we know.
Anatomy of a Vortex
Ideas from evolution theory are beneficial for the Toltec warrior to consider. This is by no means a definitive look at evolution nor is this a scientific approach, rather a thought provoking reflection on the fundamental ways that the earth works to sustain life and create awareness.
There are several ideas that dominate evolution. The first, and often most popular thus greatly misunderstood is the predator-prey interrelationship. This is mistaken for the survival of the fittest. But has deeper and broader impacts than just that, and is not the dominant drive of real evolution. Second is cooperation, both social and biological interconnectedness. This far greater drive in evolution brings about greater survival and development of form and awareness. Third are random variations. These provide for niches of adaptation to change. And finally there is the pulse of the earth itself including but not limited to climactic changes, disasters and even seasons.
Take a drive, take a walk, spend an hour away from humans, this is a great start to silent practice…. Better yet, spend a year or two away from the dramas. Stalking the silence was easy it seemed yet easing back into the cacaphoney of human energy can be difficult by comparison to the leaving.
When the predator first rears its head in a boisterous “no-way-you-can’t-leave-the-way-you-have-worked-walked-maintained-the-common-human-story”, death seams the only answer to its demands. But even death is part of the game the predator plays.
To defeat the predator we recapitulate. At first this recapitulation is all about externals, stories of others and demands of others. Then it shifts to our reaction to others, our energy in relationship to others. Finally it’s all inside your head and the predator attacks our very existence.
The only way to not be a sugary morsel of victimhood to this onslaught is silence. Practiced, steady, disciplined silence. We become quiet first, but more deeply we become silent. We stop participating in the grand story that is constantly bombarding our definitions of normal. And at first it’s rather energetic because we had devoted so much energy to the same ole’ story.
“It’s because we simply cheated ourselves all the way down the line. We thought our lives, by analogy, was a journey, a pilgrimage, which had a serious purpose by the end. The point was to get to that end, success or whatever, or maybe heaven after you are dead. But we missed the point the whole way along. It was a musical thing and we were supposed to sing or dance, while the music was being played.” OTT – One day I wish to have this kind of time.
A warrior’s humility is not the humility of the average man. Got it, but does that make us in any way special. Hell know!… In fact it makes us the same as the average man. One of the traps of any path, any way, anything we practice is that we think we are getting the right answer, the right way and the world makes more sense to us than any other human in the world. (We sometimes forget that the insane apes are us!) In fact there is nothing special about the warrior of freedom’s path in comparison to any other path whatsoever.
We progress through the four battles of life, we build up personal power, we align with intent and so often we forget that everything is aligned with intent and has power to say nothing of freedom. Every person, plant and animal has the same freedom that we do within the realm of the position of their assemblage points. To walk a path of freedom is not in anyway superior or special to any one else, rather it is a dance of knowledge and awareness of the panoply of creation and how amazing the universe is in creating awareness in all its variations.
